Imperial Swine Genetics, Inc., (ISG) is our F1 gilt line breeding stock service for the commercial producer. Using our documented pureline genetics in a crossbreeding program has enabled us to further express the traits so important to profitable hog production. With 1,500 sows in this program and farrowing weekly, we can fill your order, whether large or small.
All ISG multiplier farms were completely depopulated, thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, then repopulated out of our SPF farms. Quarterly slaughter checks, monthly herd visits and blood testing are the norm on these farms. We utilize all-in, all-out production on all farms. All animals are mated, raised and selected to our specifications to ensure consistency in quality and quantity.
The following lines are available:
- ISG-Line 442 Gilts
- ISG-Line 68 Gilts
- ISG-Line 48 Gilts & Boars (Grandparent)
The ISG-Line 442 gilt contains 25% color, thus enhancing durability and longevity. This female line boasts low cull rates and high milking ability. In fact, recent PigCHAMP records indicate 50% more pigs/lifetime with this gilt over a major competitor. Financially, this equates to a $1.90 per pig marketed per year advantage to the producer! In addition, the same PigCHAMP records show a 2 lb. per pig advantage in weaning weight, meaning a bigger, hardier, faster growing, easier starting pig in any nursery facility. She is adaptable to average production facilities as well as total confinement.
The ISG-Line 68 gilt is a 100% whiteline female, selected for increased fertility, milk production and balanced production traits.
Our recommendation is to use a Compart D-100 Duroc boar on the Line 442 and Line 68 gilts. We have a number of customers whose PigCHAMP records and kill sheets show the excellent performance and ultimate profitability of this breeding program. This combination gives you out-standing leanness and per pig premiums without sacrificing milk production, growth or longevity.
All gilt lines bred to our Compart D-100 Duroc boar will allow producers to maximize both maternal and terminal heterosis. Maximizing heterosis explains why Compart customers see higher birth weights, lower preweaning mortality, increased growth rates, and survivability in side-by-side comparisons with other programs.
The ISG-Line 48 gilt contains 50% color and works well as a grandparent animal to generate replacement gilts when bred to the Compart Yorkshire lines. This allows producers to capitalize on maternal heterosis when producing your own female lines.
