We offer Duroc, York and Landrace boars for both rotational and terminal crossbreeding systems. The most popular terminal line is our Compart D-100 Duroc. For generations, this boar has been selected to maximize lean gain efficiency, bottom line profit, and high meat quality characteristics.
Most of the recent meat quality data being quoted comes from the National Genetic Evaluation Lean Growth Modeling Project done by the National Pork Producers Council. This data was compiled using groups of hogs from large and small breeding organizations. About 90% of the Duroc-sired pigs used in the Genetic Evaluation were offspring of the Compart D-100 Duroc boars bred to sows representing a very diverse genetic makeup.
In that unbiased evaluation, Durocs excelled in growth rate, feed efficiency, plus meat quality characteristics such as pH, color, drip loss percent and intramuscular fat. This explains why European and Asian countries that demand high quality pork have turned to Duroc as their terminal sire of choice. Buyers from across the U.S., Mexico, Canada, Japan and Korea are making genetic selections from Compart's nucleus-level breeding farms. We believe that for U.S. pork to be in demand on the world market, we will have to supply the type of product that meets their specifications.
